For the travelers who have never visited New York City and are concerned about finding an affordable hotel in New York, rest assured there are some reasonable hotel rates to be found.  For one, New York City is a massive city full of all varieties of deals and offerings.  Hotels are no different.  There are cheap hotels in New York City along with very posh, luxurious hotels in New York.  Then there is everything in between!

Since New York is the largest metropolitan city in the United States, you will find variety at the least.  Variety in food, entertainment, art, education, commerce, retail and accommodations.  Some of the national chains offer up budget hotels in New York just as the boutiques provide discounts.  Howard Johnson Express Inn is an example of a national chain that is a great bargain in New York.  Relative to other price points on hotel rooms in NYC, this hotel is definitely one of the more affordable hotels in New York City.

Another affordable hotel in New York City from a major national chain is the Comfort Inn.  They have several locations.  There is one located within walking distance of the Jacob Javits Convention Center (we did a video on another post and this hotel was in the shoot).  The Comfort Inn Central Park West has also been a big hit with people needing to stay in an affordable hotel in New York.

Marriott is another brand name hotel with affordable rates in some of their New York properties.  Many people think Marriotts are too pricey or luxurious for their budget travel needs yet Marriott comes up often with discounts and bargains.  And it’s a little known fact that some of the Marriott Hotels will negotiate rates with you!  We love that.  Just ask for a discount and see if they can accommodate your budget.

We are continually surprised by people who won’t plan a vacation to New York City for fear of being robbed at high rates on their accommodations.  Keep looking; the affordable hotels in New York City are waiting for your calls!

Looking for a cheap hotel in New York City?  You may be surprised at how many you can find.
New York City is one of the most visited cities in the world but visitors pay a hefty price to visit. We always like to look for discounts on hotels in New York City and others want to make sure they don’t overpay as well. That’s not where we want to spend out money when we visit New York, so we are always looking for discounts on New York City hotels.

It may seem obvious but we have found some of the best deals on hotels in NYC through the brand name travel sites such as CheapTravel, Travelocity, Orbitz and Expedia. At the very least, you will get a sense for what is a bargain for a New York Hotel and how much they think it’s worth.  It’s a pain, we know, but we have had good luck in our research because the deals are out there but often very hidden.  Deeply hidden.

One thing we do in addition to our search with travel sites is to go straight to the big hotel chains to see what deals they are providing.  I recently did that and uncovered a really great deal at the Element, a hotel by Westin, part of the Starwood family.  We have not stayed there yet but I will be posting here after our trip.  Other chains are Wyndham, Sheraton, New Yorker, Super 8, Best Western, Radisson, Hampton Inn and many others.

Where will you be visiting in your trip to New York City?  Where you stay will have an effect on the prices you will have to pay. New York City  can be categorized into several areas and these areas effect your hotel fees.

Do you want to stay in an upbeat and trendy part of the City? If so, then there are cheap hotels in Soho and Chelsea.
If you are challenged at finding a cheap New York City hotel, you may want to consider a New York hostel.  Hostels have been provided for decades and are still going strong. Included in the fee is a free breakfast.   If you are traveling with children, a hostel is probably not want the best place for you.

Don’t give up or give in because there are cheap New York City hotels waiting for your attention.  Don’t let anyone tell you that you have to spend a fortune in New York.  You can, of course, but you don’t have to.
