One Discount Hotel in New York

We got such a super rate at The Element when we attended the 2011 Toy Fair at the Jacob Javits Convention Center.  The Element was close enough to the Center that we walked to and from the Show every day.  The hotel was terrific.  Not only did it qualify as a discount hotel in New York – important to me – but everything about it was contemporary, clean and efficient as you’ll see in the following video.

The room we stayed in was very small but well done.  There was a small refrigerator and sink that we hadn’t known about but they came in handy.  The bathroom was contemporary and outfitted with glass shower enclosure and off-white Italian marble from floor to ceiling.  Very nice.

We had a couple of challenges we imposed on the hotel staff and they responded so well.  I would have no hesitation in coming back to this property again.  We had dinner right around the corner at a small Italian restaurant but I can’t for the life of me remember its name.  I do remember that the owner made and bottled his own wine and served it along with other brands.  Is that common in New York or will this give someone a clue to remind me the name of this restaurant?

The video below is short but gives you a glimpse of the street environment around The Element and a brief tour.
